I traveled to Japan in my 20’s and lived in a small town on the southern island of Kyushu for several years. It was an adventure of self discovery. I found myself drawn to the gardens, so perfectly tended and manicured. At the center of these was the bonsai tree. The elegant simplicity of the bonsai embodies the connection between man and nature. Over time and with patience the bonsai takes shape and imparts a sense of tranquility and harmony. I have taken my affinity of the bonsai and created wire works where I attempt to emulate the beauty and simplicity of nature.
